friday night was the 80's sleepover. good jello shots and good times. yesterday, karen and i went to see mest. it was at clutch, and doors were at 4 because the show had to be over in time for the skeezy saturday night dance party. we got there at the end of dynamite boy's set. matchbook romance was next, and then fallout boy. i liked both of them a lot. then mest played. they had to shorten their set because they got there late. i had fun, but i really wasn't in the mood to be at a show. plus, out of all the venues in michigan.. or anywhere i've seen a show, actually.. i like clutch the least. there is no air circulation in the building so it gets super hot. the drinks are different prices depending on which bar you order them from (beer is cheaper at the inside bar, vodka & cran is cheaper at the outside one but you don't get a lime), and the stairs have this funny bump at the edge of each step that you trip on whether you are sober or not. but you can see the stage from pretty much anywhere you end up standing, and there are lots of bars within walking distance (and more skeezy clubs too, haha).. so it all equals out in the end. anyway, the show was over by 8:30 and i was home by 10.. i crashed almost immediately since i only got 2 or 3 hours of halfassed sleep on the floor the night before. today i have to go to target and get some things for the trip to new york.

i was reading some news tidbits on rollingstone.com and it said that billy corgan posted something on his website about how the breakup of the smashing pumpkins was brought on by james iha. i had my guesses, but that wasn't ever one of them. i also read that jimmie's chicken shack has a new cd coming out on april 27. i hope that means they'll tour!
